AJ leaned against the giant oak tree, his guitar sitting in his lap, fingers strumming the strings. He was getting a lot of weird looks from passerbyers, but he didn't care. About anything. He didn't care if they didn't like the way he looked, dressed, or played the guitar. He was doing this for himself, and no one else.
AJ changed between tunes quickly, his mind coming up with new ideas all the time. He never wrote them down, so this was the only way he could remember. He played them over and over, earning dirty looks from the students on the benches. He just looked at them, not concerned.
He was about to begin playing to him when his light was cut off. He sighed, not looking up. "You're in my light," he said to the person.

Dana had been out in the grounds, taking a walk, and finding a nice place to sit, and perhaps draw some before her next class started. She had only been let out of sound engineering, only to have to go to music history later that same day. It was going to be a long, boring day, so why not get in as much free time as possible right?
As Dana began near a large oak tree, she heard someone on the guitar. It was amazing, defiantly some of the best she had heard. Dana walked closer to the person, a guy, who played under the tree, only to hear the music being cut off as she stood there.
"Oh, sorry." She said, moving to the side, not wanting to leave. "Mind if I sit?" She asked him, hoping he wouldn't bite her head off or anything.

AJ quit playing for a second, and looked up, seeing the girl that had previously been in his way. "Um, sure," he said, scooting over a little bit to make room for her. While he tried not to show it, he was confused as to why she was here, sitting next to him. He kept the thought to himself for a while and continued to play his guitar, still getting looks from all the other students on campus. However, these new looks showed both annoyance and confusion.
Finally, AJ stopped. The girl was still sitting there, and he wanted to know why. Without trying to be mean, he asked. "Why did you come sit over here? There's plenty of other seats," he said, looking around the grounds.

"Thanks," Dana muttered, then took a spot on the ground. Pulling out her sketch book from her bag, Dana only placed it on her lap as a cover. As she looked down, at mainly empty pages, she stayed focused on the guy's playing. Occasionally looking up from her book, Dana's eyes would go to the guy playing, to the onlookers and their stares, and the back to her own book.
No sooner did her eye's land back onto her own book, the guitar stopped. Dana had been expecting the question 'why sit here'. "I like your playing," She answered simply, thinking that she should have more of an answer than that, but Dana couldn't think of anything else that wouldn't sound weird, "You're really good."

AJ just looked at the girl, still a little confused, but flatter all the same. It wasn't everyday that people said they liked his music. Just Halesea, but she didn't count because he was his best friend. AJ smiled a little at the girl. "Thanks," he said, not sure of what else to say. You should introduce youself, he heard his mother's voice in his head command, and rolling his eyes, he decided it was probably the right thing to do. "I'm AJ, by the way," he told her.
He noticed that she held a sketch book in her hands, and this interested him. "I take it you like to draw," he said, motioning toward the blank pages . "That's really awesome," he added, giving her another smile, before going back to his guitar. He played a little section that he had been thinking of while she was sitting next to him, liking the way it sounded. "What do you think? he asked. It wasn't often that he got other's opinions, so he took the opportunity presented to him.

Dana could see that the guy was still lightly confused, but what else was she to say? It wasn't like she was living her dream already and was able to help him. As he introduced himself, Dana figured that she might as well do the same. "I'm Dana." She said, in return to him.
As AJ looked over at her, very empty, sketch book, Dana felt kind of embarrassed at its emptiness. She was such a fail. "Uh, yeah. Its mostly just a way to pass time," Dana explained. Really, her drawings were how she expressed how she felt, but he didn't need to know that. "Seriously, I think your really good." She told AJ, when he asked her opinion. "You know, if you come back to me in a few years, I can help you record." She said, with a laugh.

AJ laughed. "It's nice to meet you, Dana. And you're going into music management?" he asked, surprised that someone who was...well, like Dana, would actually be interested in that program. Most of the other people in there were like him: loners. But she was different than the "norm" of the program, and that interested AJ.
"That's cool. I'm going into music theory, hopefully starting a band, and hitting it big," he said, envisioning his future. He could just see himself on stage, rocking out to some sweet guitar solo while the crowd was cheering his name and adrenaline was flowing though is veins. He wanted that every night, so badly, and he would sure try his d**n hardest to achieve that dream. But first, of course, they would need a manager. And it looked like she was sitting right next to him. "Well, I may have to take you up on that offer. Me and my best friend Halesea are starting a band, and we're looking for a manager," he explained.

Dana nodded, "Yepp. That's the plan," She told him, seeing that he was a bit confused about it. She could see why too. She was popular, a cheerleader, spoiled, everything that seemed to make her seem not into the kind of stuff she was. But those three things were only a part of who she was. Music was a big part of her life too. But she defiantly did stand out in her classes.
"Theory, wow. That stuffs a pain," Dana laughed, "But really, that's cool." Dana said, supporting his dream. There was no point in saying 'you know how hard it is to make it big', or to say anything to put him down. A dream was a dream, and everyone should be able to follow their dream -- or that was how Dana saw it. "Well... Perhaps in a few years, we could figure some stuff out." She said. Dana would have never thought that it would have been this easy to find her first artists, let alone, have them found before she graduated.

AJ nodded to Dana. "Yeah, that'd be cool. The earlier we start out, the better," he said. He looked back at his guitar, strumming a few notes. It was weird, sitting here with this girl who just happened to be a music major, and she liked his music. He would not have guessed his day would start out like this.
"So, why did you really come sit next to me. I know you said you like my music, but I know there's something more," he said, wanting to find out the real reason Dana had come over. AJ had acquaintances in the same program that Dana was in, and even though they say they liked his music, they had never come and sat down next to him.

Dana nodded, as AJ went back to playing. While listening, Dana just sat there, not thinking about a whole lot in particular, until he asked why she came to sit next to him. Why did she come sit with him anyways, she asked herself. Well, first of all, her eyes had been focused on this tree for a while now, and because of the lack of benches around it, Laura wouldn't sit on the ground in her designer jeans, but as for Dana, she could care less. But still, that wasn't a sufficient answer.
"I don't really know," Dana said, answering truthfully. "I didn't recognize anyone else out here? I've had my eyes on this tree forever? The music pulled me in?" She said, rambling off a few of the reasons that we're floating through her mind. But he had a point. Why was she, Dana Roberts, THU's Cheer Co-Captain sitting with him, basically a nobody? "Pick you answer." She said, with a small smile on her face, "Any of those three could easily be true." Dana told him, taking a quick glimpse at the people around them, and then turned her attention back to him.
